ARTISTS SEEK STOLEN PAINTING
TWO young city artists are searching for their painting, valued at R50 000, after it was stolen while on display at the One City Festival last week.
Vuyisa Nyamende and Cameron Green, both 22, were among the up-and-coming young artists who displayed their work at festival venues around the city.
They had spent a year collaborating on the painting entitled Diamonds and Pearls.
"We had been waiting for the perfect opportunity, and the festival presented us with the chance to exhibit it," said Nyamende.
The painting was exhibited on a stand outside the Association of Visual Arts gallery in Church Street during the Night Vision Street Party on September 22.
Thousands of people were out that night, and the last time the two saw their painting was at midnight before they went to a pub.
"At first we thought one of the artists had taken it as a prank and asked everyone we knew if they had seen it," said Nyamende.
"But it, must have been someone else."
Anyone with information should contact Vuyisa Nyamende at (021) 696 3984
